Part Clash, part Talking Heads, part DFA and part Liquid Liquid, this debut release on London's brand new Cassette label presents four instances of their disco not disco, dance not dance, punk funk ethos.

Piccadilly records

excellent grooves from the cassette label out of europe that comes like the clash's "radio clash" fighting it out with the tom tom club. all references you have heard before but this really is ace!

Rough Trade

Punks Jump Up and the Springmine Disaster deliver the first release on Cassette records, artfully blending gritty guitars, chopped-up percussions, live basses and cut-up samples.

Side A presents "Be You (Beep Beep)", driving dance-pop track with demented synth lines and catchy vocals, with a surprising yet polite visit of the girl trio, the beepettes. The dub disco mix delivers exactly what it says on the tin.

The flipside gives us "Immaturity", a quirky broken pop track with verbally twisted vocals and everything it takes to make a good tune, from a melodic bass hook to sardine breath. The Punks 'n Dub remix takes it straight to the dancefloor with an acid flavour and a killer bass line.

The "Dance not dance" feel of the release makes it an original debut for Cassette records and gleefully paves the way for things to come.
